Outline (for Subsidy Starting from April 2025)
- In Osaka City, the Osakashi-Naraigoto-Jukudai-Josei-Jigyō (大阪市習い事・塾代助成事業), meaning “After-school Activities Subsidy Program” is offered to the students from 5th grade of elementary school to the 3rd grade of junior high school. The aim is to support families with children in reducing expenditures on studies outside of school such as Juku (additional tutoring), sports and cultural lessons. Students under this program have the opportunity to further develop their academic ability, motivation to learn, individuality and talent level.
- The subsidy comes in the form of the Osaka City After-school Activities Subsidy Card, worth up to 10,000 yen per month, which is redeemable for extracurricular activities and supplementary tutorial school fees.
Notice: An application is required for eligibility screening.

Persons who are bringing up the students from 5th grade of elementary school to the 3rd grade of junior high school living in Osaka City
Application Procedures

A notice regarding application to register for the subsidy will be sent to your home address. If you wish to receive the subsidy, please make an application. If you do not receive the notice, ask the Osaka City After-school Subsidy Administration Office to send an application form to your home. Applications can be made at any time. (Inquiries in Japanese only, please.)
- Fill out the application form. Online application is available for some applicants.
- If you are unable to make your application online, send your application form to the Administration Office (postage stamp required).
- If your application to receive the subsidy is approved, you will receive a user password together with the Osaka City After-school Activities Subsidy Card.
How to Use the Osaka City After-school Activities Subsidy Program Card
- The card can only be used at participating businesses.
- Please present your card and password every month at the school(s) to prove you are the authorized cardholder.
- The card can be used to cover tutorial school costs, etc., up to 10,000 yen per month. The subsidy will be paid directly to the business by the City of Osaka.
- Osaka City After-school Activities Subsidy Card registration is subject to renewal, and passwords are subject to change.
